Complimentary Wedding Shuttle Service Route (09/04)

A school bus will be going to the following private residences for pickup (5 minute wait at each stop). Please be ready and on the lookout for the bus by the estimated time of your location.

The same route will happen at the end of the wedding to drop people off.

Join us at Vashon Field & Pond Farm - The Bluff House (directions below), for a welcome drink. Get to know your fellow wedding attendees! BYOB is encouraged, snacks, wine & beer will be available.

Flights

Most guests will be arriving on Vashon Island on Saturday, September 3rd and departing on Monday, September 5th. We encourage you to come early and visit Seattle proper!

Accommodations

Guests are welcome to stay on the island. There are plenty of Airbnbs available but get competitive around Labor Day, so don't snooze! You can view available Airbnbs here.

Additionally, we have a hotel block reserved next to the ferry station off-island in Tacoma.

Directions

Getting to Vashon requires taking a short ferry ride. The ferry can be taken either from Tacoma (Point Defiance) or from West Seattle (Fauntleroy). The ferry supports both vehicles and walk-on passengers.

Our Story

Love is Hard (For a Weeb)

Once upon a Friday, Laura was watching anime and posting about it, to her favorite social media Kitsu. Erwan was intrigued by her post about a new show, “Wotakoi,” featuring friends who reconnect at a Tokyo office job and eventually find love. From this simple post, a digital courtship blossomed. Erwan and Laura exchanged messages from Prague to Pittsburgh, PA for nearly six months. Eventually, Laura revealed she’d be traveling to Germany, and Erwan proposed the idea of meeting for the first time in person during the final weekend of Oktoberfest in Munich.

The First Date (That almost wasn't)

Erwan almost missed the Oktoberfest date entirely due to a delayed flight. On the final day of Oktoberfest, Laura and Erwan were to meet at last.  Laura arrived early to the Augustiner beer tent. Into the tent appeared Erwan, tanned and dashing, in a blue Oxford button up. His eyes lit up when he saw Laura dressed in the traditional dirndl dress, the bow tied on the left hand side, an indication she was single. Laura taught Erwan the traditional three-way-cheers, and he nervously dropped a liter of beer all over the table (and her dress). With the ice broken, the rest of the day was a dream of flirting and fair games. At the end of it all, Erwan asked “Any plans for Christmas?”

Operation Dream Life

Yearning for a fresh start, Erwan and Laura packed up their belongings and headed out west. The final destination was (maybe) Seattle, but neither had ever been there. On the journey, Erwan introduced Laura to his childhood fondness for KOAs in Fillmore, Utah. During the trip Fergus transformed into an adventure dog, seeing the ocean for the first time. After a short stay in Santa Barbara, it was up the California coast on the 101. Along the way, they marveled at the hobbit cottages of Carmel-by-the-Sea, the redwoods of Crescent City, and the tidepools of Cannon Beach. Eventually they reached…The Emerald City, a place to call home.

The Proposal

Getting ready for dinner, Erwan informed Laura to dress “boat ready.” They walked to the beach on Kaanapali, Maui. Two gentlemen awaited with an inflatable dinghy; the dinghy was pushed into the ocean, and we all jumped on at the last minute to avoid the waves. Further out, we arrived on a private Beneteau sailboat, chartered for a Hawaiian sunset sail. After settling in on the bow, Erwan told Laura he was heading to the bathroom. Upon his return, he got down on one knee and declared  “Ever since our first date in Munich, I knew I had to steal you for myself… will you be mine and marry me?” Laura responded with a resounding YES! and the sailors brought out champagne. Against the backdrop of the Maui sunset, Laura and Erwan cheered to a new chapter.
